We are pleased to welcome you to the newest addition to Bali’s art scene.

In opening Kendra Gallery, we have many goals and aspirations: Firstly, we hope to have a positive and dynamic effect on the contemporary art world in Indonesia. We hope to foster international dialogue by presenting and representing art of many cultures side by side here in Bali and globally: Indonesian, European, Asian and American. Eventually, we also plan to initiate an artist- in- residence program that will sponsor foreign artists in their work and research while providing opportunities for locally based artists to profit from a different worldview and diverse technical/educational experiences. As we go forward, our exhibitions will highlight both established artists and young artists just entering the professional world. Guiding them in their career decisions will be a fundamental element of our development program. This will be supplemented by in-house publications, lectures, films, workshops and performances that will make Kendra Gallery a centre for art happenings.

We opened in June 2008 with a non-commercial, fund-raising exhibit, in our wish to express our commitment to the place that nourishes and inspires us. It was an homage to two primary sources of art and artists in Indonesia: Bali and Jogyakarta. This event was a forerunner to future art-based charitable events and the promotion of social awareness that will hopefully be a regular element of our activities at Kendra Gallery. We are happy and honoured to join the like-minded art professionals in Bali and the world to motivate and inspire creativity and continue to develop Bali as an international centre for contemporary art.
